Hurray for *new* clients getting ready to have a *new* baby at the beginning of a *new* year! Karen and Nick are a SUPER fun couple who put up with my shenanigans for about two hours of maternity session fun. I am being semi-sarcastic here due to the fact that maternity sessions tend to be quite taxing on women who are dealing with the side affects of pregnancy. But Karen handled our session so well, and she and Nick helped me come up with some fun shots. Even their incredibly protective dog Bear allowed me to get some nice pictures with him!
Baby Elise is due in March, and I can’t wait to help welcome her into the world! Karen and Nick intend to have me there for delivery room portraits and a newborn session a couple weeks following Elise’s arrival. I’m so excited! Thanks for allowing me to capture your special moments, you two.

This is another great wedding that I had the pleasure of being the second to my wonderfully talented friend Calvina. Jackie and Carlos met via the internet, and I was lucky enough to help capture their special day. The amazing thing is that when they met, Jackie and Carlos lived on opposite sides of the country from each other! Here’s a huge congratulations to the two of them for finding each other and bringing their families together.
Also, there may have to be a second post for this one. This is just the first half of the day!

Jackie and her daughter had SUCH an amazing bond!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and that you all have a very safe new year. Now that things have begun to slow down a bit, I am hoping to get a chance to post some of the work that kept me so busy in the weeks before Christmas. In addition to all the family sessions, I was fortunate to have another chance to shoot a wedding with the lovely Calvina. I am SUPER excited to post shots from that session!
I very rarely post about my personal life on this blog, but I feel very close to many of my clients, and I would like to share some happy news. On the Friday before Christmas, my sweet (gorgeous, generous, thoughtful, talented, AMAZING) boyfriend Luke proposed to me.
OF COURSE I SAID YES!
I am so proud of him because he paid attention to the ideas I had for my *perfect* ring, took the time to do the research, and came up with this beautiful creation:

Luke designed my ring himself with lots of help from Michael at Dan T’s Custom Jewelers in Woodland, Ca. If you are planning to have any jewelry designed, I definitely recommend checking them out! My ring turned out to be PERFECT. I love it.
So, as a newly engaged photographer, I always get the question, “So who’s going to be YOUR photographer?” I have even had a couple people ask, “Are you going to set the camera up on a tripod and do it yourself?”
Of course, I have had someone in mind for wedding photography for quite some time, and I am working on booking the HIGHLY talented Susan Yee for our November-ish wedding.
I’m so excited! Let the planning begin!

Here’s a little peek into an engagement session I shot recently in the Napa area. I had a wonderful time during the session, especially enjoying the opportunity to capture them interacting as a complete family. Congrats to all four of you!

Being behind on my blogging to begin with – and then getting sick on top of the busy-ness – does NOT help this photographer get ahead. So now that I am feeling almost 100% better, I would like to present the engagement session from the wedding I have scheduled next… Amy and Doug. This is one of the sweetest couples I have ever met, and I am so happy that they have found each other. Can’t wait for their April wedding!

I warned you it was coming, and here it is! I feel confident in posting some of my favorite shots from this session because – well, Melissa is my best friend. So what’s the worst she would do to me for posting the shots that make me giggle?
Besides – this is what a REAL family looks like!
If my current loyal readers followed my work on Myspace last year, you may have seen these shots from the Sable’s session last November:

And here are a few from our session this year. I love this family!

Meet my best friend Melissa. She’s beautiful, isn’t she? The most beautiful thing about Melissa is the fact that she is a wonderful person inside and out – one of the the most loyal, caring, and generous people I know. I hope you enjoy this little teaser of the Sable family session – and stay tuned because there is MUCH more to come!

It has been so rewarding to see this family grow in the past year. When I first met them, the Mickey family was a lovely little family of three. Soon after being introduced to Chastity, I began to have regular sessions with them (seen here and here), watching their threesome grow into a complete family of four. Cayla has been a gorgeous little addition, growing from a petite, exotic-looking newborn to a charming, smiley six-month-old. Chastity and Keith have so much to be thankful for!

This season’s family sessions are off to a wonderful start. Unfortunately, this means that I have less time for blogging since I am spending so much time with these awesome families! But I am sure that my loyal blog-readers understand.
And because everyone has been so patient with me, I am posting one superblogpost with some of my favorite shots from a few sessions. Enjoy!
Christina and her family:

The Urrea family – their second session with me. You can see their first session here.

The Eisenbarth family, also their second session. You can see their first session here.

The Stanley family – doesn’t Brooke look amazing for just having a baby a couple months ago?!

I am keeping this short due to how many sessions I still have to edit, but I promise there are more to come! If you are interested in a family session like those posted above, I have only one or two weekend slots left before Christmas. Contact me right away!

Here is yet another engagement session at another super fun (for me!) location. I know it’s sad, but this was my first trip to the Chico State campus. Jen and Brian doubled as amazing models AND tour guides on my first trip to the university. Congrats on your engagement, you two! I know your wedding will be a blast!
