iPhone for Kindergarteners?

One thing I love about my cell phone is that it takes decent pictures. This is helpful when I don’t want to carry around my bulky digital SLR. Like when I am meeting the girls and their father at a very packed coffee shop on a Saturday morning.

I have a feeling that my eldest daughter will be much like her father – very technologically literate. This bothers me only because I don’t want to see her hooked on video games. :-)

I have to apologize to the people following this blog. I haven’t had a lot of new material lately, partially due to the weather. Of course, we really do need the rain, but I want to get out so badly and shoot! Everything is beginning to bloom already – California is SO beautiful. Hopefully I will post some evidence of this soon.

Afternoon fun

Today I went to lunch with the kiddos and my mom. Rule number one when attempting to crank out at least one photo per day: Get out of the house! Anyone want to see a picture of my yummy veggie sandwich from The Brick House in Marysville? I LOVE veggies!

This is probably the only pro photographer’s blog you will see that will talk about the following sensitive subject – the potty in the new CalTrans building. I have to say that I was blown away, and that’s why I chose to post such awesome pictures of the latrine. Apparently, CalTrans is attempting to do their part in conserving water… In the toilet. Up for number one, down for number two, and a new anti-bacterial handle:

(I have to say that the only part of my anatomy that ever touches the handle in a public restroom is the bottom of my shoe.) And if you didn’t quite grasp the concept the first time around, here is a shot of the overly-informative (yet still extremely proper) sign with directions on the use of said handle:

So if this wasn’t one of the most enlightening blog entries that you have ever read on a photographer’s website, you will certainly have to direct me to some so I can edu-ma-cate myself too. :-)

Incredible

Welcome to the noisiest, most crowded kid (and adult)-friendly environment in the Sacramento area. At the end of the day, though, I would get back on this ride over and over again just to be able to take pictures like this. So fun!

I have noticed that a lot of the photos I have been posting lately have been void of bright, vibrant colors. I am planning on posting some more colorful shots shortly, even if it means digging into the vault. Stay tuned. :-)

Read it, Mom

You would think that being a photographer and having two beautiful children would mean that I have hordes and hordes of awesome pictures of them. Yeah, I thought it would be that way too. Unfortunately, when your favorite hobby is also your job, you end up doing it less and less in your spare time. :-) I sometimes am envious of my clients – I spend so much more time capturing great images of their children than of my own. And when I do bring out my camera, my girls don’t usually want to be the subjects. Can you tell?

Waterfalls

Here is my contribution to my Photo A Day endeavor. I added a couple extra to make up for the fact that I am 34 days behind. :-) I have to say that shooting scenery isn’t exactly my thing, but I would LOVE to bring a model or a couple back to this spot and give it the attention it deserves!

I would also like to mention that I used samples from the Totally Rad Actions demo that I downloaded from the website. I love these actions, and I want both packs as SOON as possible!

Welcome to my little corner of the blogging world! After keeping up a Livejournal for 5 1/2 years, I came to the conclusion that my photography deserved it’s own spot to shine, and here it is! This blog is going to require a bit of work before I can get it exactly where I want it, but that mirrors my photography career – a work in progress. I intend to continue seeing my style develop and evolve, and this is the place I have chosen to display it.

Of course, for my first official blog entry I have to leave some shots from my most recent shoot! Recently I had the pleasure of shooting Chastity and her family. I met Chastity at Phillip and Katrina’s wedding – she was one of Katrina’s bridesmaids. I had fallen in love with her little boy, Keith, at the wedding and – lucky for me – I got another chance to capture his gorgeous little self today! What an awesome family!

I am hoping to see this family again in a couple of months when the new baby girl arrives. I am keeping my schedule flexible at that time so I can plan for her arrival!
