The first time I worked with Shayna and Mike, they were planning their wedding in 2009. Although Shayna and I had attended high school together, we never really connected until she contacted me to capture her engagement session and wedding day. I was very excited at the opportunity to capture this couple’s special day – Shayna was planning a day filled with Tiffany blue and hot pink details. Everything was beautiful, and it was definitely one of my favorite weddings so far! (You can see my blog post of their wedding here.)

Next month, Shayna and Mike are expecting a sweet little boy. Once again, they have allowed me to be present to capture one of the most important events in their life together, and I am honored. Isn’t Shayna absolutely radiant? I can’t wait to meet this little boy!

My new blogging goal is simple: to keep up! For this reason, I am attempting to post at least twice per week. Even if it’s just a teaser leading to a bigger and better post, I want to leave my readers something to enjoy until my busy little family gives me a chance to throw out something new. This is a small glimpse from my session this week with Jennifer and Michael. I have been tickled by my last couple of brides and their choices in shoes. Jennifer rocked these orange heels, and you won’t believe who the designer is! Unfortunately, I’m going to leave you hanging and wait until the full post next week to reveal that information. :-) Keep watching for it!

LOVED the little church that Jason suggested we visit:

I also fell in love with Lindsi’s shoes. I can see a trip to Nordstrom’s in my future!

I just had to post the rest of my favorites from this session! These kiddos are obviously UBER adorable, and I had such a good time during their session!

I believe the question posed was, “Last one! Who wants a treat?!”

I often tell my clients that my engagement sessions are more for me than they are for the couple. I need time with my newly engaged clients – most of them are not experienced models, and are often uncomfortable in front of the camera. This is the reason that I insist on an engagement session with every wedding package. I want to give my couples a practice session before their big day. The wedding day is certainly not the time to practice – everyone involved is pressed for time and it is often hard for the bride and groom to focus. Going into the big day with a session under the belt helps us all relax. My clients are able to learn how I work and what they can expect from me and vice versa.

This couple is just awesome – they are naturals in front of the camera. Allana and Jeremy will have no problems on their wedding day when it comes to their formal portraits. I am definitely looking forward to their wedding in June!
