Andrea has been a dear friend for years now. If I could use a few words to describe her, some might be “spunky”, “beautiful”, “loyal”, and “ambitious”. She has started her own blog showcasing her fashion and style, which you can find here. Andrea has a magnetic personality that attracts so many friends. When she’s on vacation, she meets new people and plans new vacations with them in the future. She has been a bridesmaid so many times that I’m pretty sure she can relate to Katherine Heigl’s character in the movie “27 Dresses”. This time, however, she has found the man who deserves to stand next to her for the rest of her life. Fred is amazing, a perfect fit, and an incredible guy.

In the time that I have known Andrea, she has been one of my number one supporters. I know that she believes in my work, and she shouts it from every rooftop she can find. When Andrea told me she was getting married, I was beyond excited. This woman is one of the most stylish ladies I know, and I knew her wedding would be over the top. And (just to tease), you will be seeing more of Andrea and Fred’s special day in the near future.

Andrea and Fred, I love you two! I am looking forward to more Christmas cocktail parties, eventually a beautiful baby bump, backyard BBQ’s, some newborn photography, fun winery trips, and family sessions in the future. It is in your case that I have created close friends out of clients, which is one of the most pleasant and unexpected perks of my profession.

I LOVED Andrea and Fred’s first look. Andrea used her bridesmaids to shield herself from Fred’s view until just the right moment, when she revealed herself and allowed him to watch the rest of her walk toward him.

I loved hearing Andrea recount her first encounter with Fred. Apparently, some of his first words to her included “I will CRUSH you!” Obviously, he got over that feeling pretty quickly.

Alright, ladies – I have a treat for you. For the past couple of months, I have been telling you that boudoir isn’t only for women that come in one shape or size. Now I’m going to prove it. Meet Heidi, one of my SUPER beautiful (and yet curvy) clients of the January boudoir marathon. Heidi was nervous at the prospect of attempting a boudoir session, but she also knew that her husband would be incredibly surprised and LOVE the images. Her husband loves her for who she is and sees her as the gorgeous woman he married, so why should she not invest in such a gift for his Valentine’s Day present?! And as Heidi revealed to me when I asked if I could show her images, “I have my book on display. Never thought I would show it but you captured my personality so well and made me feel like a beautiful woman.” Now THAT is what boudoir is about, ladies!

And by the way, Heidi’s husband DID love the album she invested in. 🙂

This is the final blog post in the boudoir series from January. I have been inspired by my weekend, and I feel that another boudoir marathon weekend will be necessary in July. Many ladies have shown interest in an outdoor session, so I will be posting more information shortly on summer sessions. Included will be multiple package options, discounts for early bookings and referrals, and every package will include hair and makeup. Time slots will fill quickly, so don’t hesitate to put a deposit down when registration opens in order to reserve yours right away.

Of all the ladies I worked with during the boudoir marathon, I have to say that Isabel’s was the most fun. I did enjoy every single session, but Isabel had a playfulness about her that became extremely apparent in her images. She gathered up all the courage she had, enjoyed getting dolled up, and rocked this session like a true model. We joked about the images being for her husband for Valentine’s Day (“Not really – I’m doing them for ME!”), and she approached the session like it was an adventure. It was almost effortless to get an amazing shot of this girl, which is why I saved her for last. Thank you for all of your sweet smiles, fun poses, and your carefree personality, Isabel. I am so glad you were a part of my weekend!

One of the biggest excuses I hear from women for not scheduling their boudoir sessions is that they are not happy with their bodies. I made it a point to emphasize that my boudoir marathon weekend would include ladies of all sizes who wanted to spice things up for their partner. I have to stop here and say that I have received some very nice messages from some VERY happy husbands. Ladies, they love the pictures, I assure you.

My job is to focus less on details and areas of the body that my client likes the least, and maximize those that are best to showcase. Lauren spelled out for me the concerns she had about her body. She revealed to me what areas she and her husband loved the most. Together, Lauren and I came up with a session full of hotness for her and her husband to enjoy.

Boudoir is about dressing up, letting loose, and stepping out of your daily roles in order to focus on YOU. Lauren is a mommy, a wife, a sister, friend… She works hard to take care of her family’s needs and neglects her own if necessary. For a couple of hours, Lauren instead focused on feeling beautiful. Enjoy her results!

Now that I have taken two months off from blogging, I think it’s probably time to get back into the swing of things. And what better way to kick off an amazing new year than to blog boudoir sessions from the marathon in January?! I will be featuring three ladies over the next few days who were kind enough to share their images with all of you.

I have to say that I never imagined that this boudoir weekend would turn out to be so fun and fulfilling. Stepping away from weddings and family sessions for a moment in order to focus on the beauty of the female body was refreshing. Although every single girl was self-conscious, I think they were all beautiful. We will always find things we hate about our bodies, and we will always think that there is someone prettier out there. However, there is nothing more beautiful than a strong, confident woman. I applaud these ladies for stepping out of their boxes, baring the outward expression of their inner beauty, and giving themselves and their partners a gift that can’t be replaced.

Gold was very nervous. She wanted these images in order to please her husband, and I think she wanted them to please herself too. I love how exotic she is, with her gorgeous eyes and long, dark hair. Although it was hard for her to get comfortable in front of the camera, I feel that Gold remained cool and positive, resulting in some beautiful images. Feel free to leave her some love in the comments below!

It always helps to bring a friend to a boudoir session. Gold’s friend Priscilla helped lace her up, give her encouragement, and even threw out ideas to try. I loved having her there!

Thank you for being a part of my weekend, Gold. Thank you for all of your encouragement, and for your confidence in me and my abilities. You shine in these pictures, and I have never seen you look more beautiful!

Thank you for your patience as this blog is under construction. I will continue to post current work here, but many exciting changes are coming soon. New website, new blog, new look, new NAME… I am so excited to share it all with you! If you have any questions, you can always contact me at granthamtia@hotmail.com or 916.599.5297.

Lindsi recently let me in on how she and Jason became an item – through a gathering at a BBQ thrown by Kari, a mutual friend. Lindsi remembered, “Jason and I hit it off right away talking with each other throughout the night until it was time to go to work the next morning. The next day I got his number from Kari, but chickened out on calling him. And according to Jason he got my number from Kari but was waiting a few days to call. Well a few days passed and I decided to hunt him down on Myspace… Yes, Myspace. From that point on we started talking had our first date at Willies Diner.” Lindsi went on to describe a future date in which the couple had planned to go hiking in some rather wet weather. Jason is very outdoorsy, and Lindsi believes that it helped seal the deal that she never complained about being cold and wet during their hike. On the other hand, the two enjoyed getting to know each other a little better while taking in the nature around them. Three years later, Jason proposed to Lindsi on the same hiking trail. This time, though, the weather was gorgeous and Jason came armed with a surprise picnic and wine. And in Lindsi’s opinion, it was absolutely perfect.

Jason and Lindsi opted to see each other before the ceremony in order to help the wedding day schedule run a little more smoothly. Their wedding ceremony ran close to sundown, so we completed all the bridal party pictures before the ceremony began.

In love with the reception details. I have to say that even as a wedding photographer who is used to seeing a lot of detail, I was overwhelmed with the overall amount throughout the day. And the fact that my bride didn’t have to do most of it… Priceless!

I credit her for so much – keeping me calm when I got overwhelmed with all the beautiful details, fishing for hair flowers behind heavy furniture, capturing awesome detail shots, and much, much more.
